Lynne has been a health insurance professional since 1990 (click for Lynne's insurance journey) and The Insurance Decoder is the culmination of her career in the industry―providing the depth and breadth of knowledge of the medical claims process and what it takes to get claims paid correctly. Lynne has shared her expertise with thousands of insurance users by helping them resolve complicated health claims while showing them how to take full advantage of their insurance benefits. Lynne's dedication to customer service has always been a core principle and her focus on customer care and strategic perspective are paramount in providing effective results with the complex intricacies of health insurance.

Lynne began her education in the legal field and built upon this background with study in medical terminology and coding, eventually earning a certificate in Medical Procedural Coding. Her work in a hospital that included patient intake and admitting, insurance eligibility verification and insurance approvals and pre-certifications for treatment and medical procedures made her knowledge of the insurance industry more well-rounded.

During her years with United Healthcare, Lynne developed the specific, practical knowledge of the claims process, enabling her to take on new roles as the Call Center Supervisor and later the Plan Administrator. She later served as the Benefits Manager for a large Tribal Government in the Southwest where she provided strategic management of a sizeable self-funded health plan, that included involvement in claims administration, a self-insured worker's compensation plan, life insurance, short and long-term disability plans, and flexible spending account programs. Lynne is an active practitioner of FMLA, COBRA, HIPAA and USERRA and how those federal regulation coordinate, in addition to other current federal legal compliance requirements. She also provided guiding leadership for a Flexible Spending Account program, leave donation program, four pension plans, annual enrollment processes, and annual Health Benefits Fairs.

Lynne is a second-generation Arizona native who when not functioning as "The Insurance Decoder", enjoys a variety of non-insurance related activities including reading, writing, travel, photography, remodeling houses and refinishing furniture. Lynne takes great joy and pride in watching her sons establish their lives and careers.
